Through IFTTT I can now control this device with Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

Since it turns the entire power strip off and on, I could theoretically plug in other appliances or lights to be toggled on a schedule.

You might be thinking, “That’s nice. But isn’t this a case of over-engineering? Don’t they make something that does this already?” You’d be 100% right. The Internet of Things is a hot topic and this home automation project was a practical exploration into that realm.
